I resolve<\/p>\n
to wear more purple<\/p>\n
and not to pull up my socks<\/p>\n
should they fall<\/p>\n
to eat more strawberries<\/p>\n
in the sun, one after one.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I resolve<\/p>\n
to look more closely,<\/p>\n
at the smaller things<\/p>\n
buttons, spiders, dandelion dust, wedding rings<\/p>\n
to sit more on swings.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I resolve<\/p>\n
to stay longer in bed awake<\/p>\n
and think and dream<\/p>\n
about a boat I want but<\/p>\n
will never make.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I resolve<\/p>\n
to kiss my gal a little longer<\/p>\n
to make love stronger<\/p>\n
more often pull her in<\/p>\n
to always, in all things, in spirit<\/p>\n
begin, being …..<\/p>\n

to play with children,<\/p>\n
like one of them<\/p>\n
and collect fire trucks<\/p>\n
and climb trees<\/p>\n
and get my knees green again.<\/p>\n

to tell my mother I love her<\/p>\n
a thousand times, all at once<\/p>\n
and tell her she did well<\/p>\n
thought all can so very well tell.<\/p>\n

to think of the good every day<\/p>\n
and in suffering<\/p>\n
know what I may<\/p>\n
not be otherwise<\/p>\n
each of us a crooked surprise.<\/p>\n

to look in that little fishes eye<\/p>\n
the next time she’s hooked<\/p>\n
to ask for more soup<\/p>\n
and look where others haven’t looked.<\/p>\n

to look up more skirts<\/p>\n
to sword fight with willow sticks<\/p>\n
to spread my peanut butter just a little more thick<\/p>\n
to burn, forget, the length of my wet wick.<\/p>\n

to lick my dog back<\/p>\n
and to take a crack<\/p>\n
at what I’ve never dreamed<\/p>\n
to believe and pass by<\/p>\n
all things that I’ve only seemed.<\/p>\n

to have my cake and eat it too<\/p>\n
but if others need<\/p>\n
bread ‘ll have to do<\/p>\n
to do what needs be done<\/p>\n
even if they don’t see the good.<\/p>\n

to buy myself more flowers<\/p>\n
and to pick more wild ones<\/p>\n

luscious hair<\/p>\n
to sit by streams<\/p>\n
waiting for the gull on the rock<\/p>\n
fishing<\/p>\n
to be there.<\/p>\n

to listen to more of life’s honest<\/p>\n
on and off, up and down<\/p>\n
to lose myself in rhythm<\/p>\n
and in that strange way<\/p>\n
be found.<\/p>\n

to suck longer on fresh peaches<\/p>\n
to not see the ugliness in leeches<\/p>\n
to go wherever my will reaches<\/p>\n
and getting there<\/p>\n
eat my bread in joy,<\/p>\n
drink my wine in peace<\/p>\n
for this day will never<\/p>\n
come again<\/p>\n
just like this new year<\/p>\n
