The year is almost out<\/p>\n
a candle burning down.<\/p>\n
John has died, crucified<\/p>\n
not even now<\/p>\n
the gospel of twist & shout allowed<\/p>\n
just a wiggle and wail<\/p>\n
an old man in the corner<\/p>\n
spewing in an older pail.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Everything is ending<\/p>\n
slowly, all at once.<\/p>\n
Judge not or yea shall be judged,<\/p>\n
didn’t some body say?<\/p>\n
So what?<\/p>\n
I’ll do it my way ….<\/p>\n
the cover band bays n’<\/p>\n
cardboard Jesus’ sway<\/p>\n
with me in this meltdown<\/p>\n
pressed, panicked like the Mad Hatter<\/p>\n
knowing now the show doesn’t matter<\/p>\n
for Christ almighty<\/p>\n
he’s left his light snuffed out<\/p>\n
the Gospel according to John<\/p>\n
is gone<\/p>\n
for many years now<\/p>\n
gone for Christ almight<\/p>\n
or thereabouts.<\/p>\n
