What are we waiting for, assembled online?
\n The virus is due here today. <\/p>\n
Why isn\u2019t anything going on with the government?
\nWhy are the senators sitting there without legislating?<\/p>\n
Because the virus is going to kill us all.
\n What\u2019s the point of senators making laws now?
\n Once the virus has hit its peak, they\u2019ll be no need for laws.<\/p>\n
Why did our president get up so early,
\nand why is he sitting enthroned at twitter\u2019s gate,
\nin state, wearing his orange crown?<\/p>\n
Because the virus is growing day by today
\n and Dr. Fauci\u2019s waiting to stamp it out.
\n He\u2019s even got a scroll to give the president,
\n loaded with scientific terms, with imposing names.<\/p>\n
Why have our spokesmen and celebrities come out today
\nwearing their embroidered, their fine suits?<\/p>\n
Why have they put on masks with so many colors,
\neyes sparkling with magnificent knowing?<\/p>\n
Why are they carrying elegant books
\nbeautifully worked in silver and gold?<\/p>\n
Because the virus is coming strong
\n and things like that dazzle the people.<\/p>\n
Why don\u2019t our distinguished journalists turn up as usual
\nto make their speeches, say what they have to say?<\/p>\n
Because the virus is coming on
\n and they\u2019re bored by rhetoric and public speaking.<\/p>\n
Why this sudden bewilderment, this confusion?
\n(How serious people\u2019s faces have become.)
\nWhy are the streets and squares emptying so rapidly,
\neveryone going home lost in thought?<\/p>\n
Because night has fallen and the virus is still coming
\n strong.
\n And some of our men just in from China say
\n there isn\u2019t a virus any longer.<\/p>\n
Now, what\u2019s going to happen to us without the virus?<\/p>\n
