{"id":965,"date":"2020-10-31T13:29:18","date_gmt":"2020-10-31T17:29:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ddeubel.me\/poetry\/?p=965"},"modified":"2020-10-31T13:29:18","modified_gmt":"2020-10-31T17:29:18","slug":"the-engine-light-is-on","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ddeubel.me\/poetry\/the-engine-light-is-on\/","title":{"rendered":"The Engine Light Is On"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Driving late at night<br \/>\nGuatemalan night<br \/>\nthe music strong<br \/>\nnothing, absolutely nothing wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Just me, the road and Mayan spirits<br \/>\nI&#8217;m right where I belong.<\/p>\n<p>Then the engine light comes on<br \/>\nI got something wrong.<br \/>\nCould be the tranny<br \/>\nCould be water in the fuel<br \/>\nCould be just electrical<br \/>\nCould be a million things<br \/>\nand to carry on<br \/>\nget my mind off the wrong<br \/>\nI think about all my own wrong<br \/>\nmy own engine light that is on. <\/p>\n<p>Could be my heart<br \/>\nCould be my drinking<br \/>\nCould be I&#8217;m just falling apart<br \/>\nbut my engine light is on<br \/>\nand I know that&#8217;s just the start &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I get home<br \/>\ntake a drink<br \/>\ntake my pills<br \/>\nand think<br \/>\nof all those better<br \/>\nno engine light on<br \/>\nbut who ain&#8217;t going as far. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Driving late at night Guatemalan night the music strong nothing, absolutely nothing wrong.
